Leadership | Royal Heights United Methodist Church
Rev. Thomas and his wife, Susan are originally from St. Louise, MO. They have been married for 55 years and have served 47 years in the ministry of the United Methodist Church – serving mostly in St. Louise, Springfield, and Joplin, MO.
Susan is currently employed in the Southwest District Office of the United Methodist Church. Before being appointed to Royal Heights UMC, Rev. Thomas pastored St. Paul’s UMC in Joplin for 7.5 years (1987 – 1995), and served as Director of Pastoral Services for Freeman Health System (2000 – 2011). They have three adult children, and five grandchildren (recently Rev. Thomas was blessed by being able to officiate at his oldest grandson’s wedding).
Rev. Thomas says that “this is a great time to be a part of the Royal Heights UMC family. The Holy Spirit is truly moving us in a new direction; there is new life and energy in both the church and its members. Recently, we have totally updated our web site with the assistance of KM Guru Marketing. On July 10, we broke ground for a new parking lot which will accommodate more cars, and are in the process of accepting bids for the remodeling of our Nursery and Education Facility. We are excited to see where God will lead us.”

Rev. Thomas invites anyone looking for a church home with a strong commitment to Jesus, the Christ, and his mission to “bring persons to Him for the transformation of the world,” a strong sense of family, a commitment to making a difference in our community, a traditional worship, with weekly Communion, to come visit us. We look forward to meeting and getting to know you soon.
