Welcome to Royal Heights United Methodist Church
Located in the Royal Heights Neighborhood of Joplin, MO | Seeking to Serve Our Surrounding Areas
The Royal Heights UMC roots go back to the early 1930s, when a group of Royal Heights’ residents would meet, each Sunday, on Inda Cole’s front porch for Sunday school. From this fellowship would come the founding of the Royal Heights Methodist Church (now United Methodist) in 1939. Though our roots are solidly in the Royal Heights community, our ministry covers all of Joplin and the surrounding communities.
We are an open, supportive, caring and nurturing faith community, gathered in the blessed name of Jesus, the Christ, and committed to his “Great Commission”: “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28: 16-20)
We are a church with a strong emphasis on “Traditional Worship,” including the Sacrament of Holy Communion as a part of each service of worship.
Regardless of where you are on your personal “faith journey,” if you desire to draw closer to Jesus, to be a part of a warm, caring, supportive, and nurturing church family; through which you can live out your ministry as a disciple of Jesus – WE HAVE A PLACE FOR YOU, AND WE WOULD INVITE YOU TO JOIN US!
To bring persons to Christ, for the transformation of the world!
To create a fellowship of loving and committed Christian believers focused on: Radical Hospitality, Passionate Worship, Intentional Faith Development, Risk-taking Mission & Service, and Extravagant Generosity.
Introducing persons to Christ, by our personal and corporate witness, in order that they may experience the “Fullness of Life”, that our Creator God desires for each of his children, as we journey through this world – and “Life Eternal” beyond this world!
A WORD FROM THE PASTOR: As you receive this edition of “The Royal Messenger” we are approaching our annual celebration of “Independence Day.” For many, this will be a holiday, a day off work, with family gatherings and parties; lots of food and drink, and millions...read more
